The unveiling of the mass production of the rail expansion joint system.

At the eighth International Exhibition of Transport, Logistics, and Related Equipment, the mass production of a new IRID product called Rail Expansion Joint was unveiled in the presence of the President of the Railways of the I.R. (RAI) and the Deputy Minister.

According to the public relations of the Iranian Rail Industries Development Company (IRID), on the last day of the 8th International Exhibition of Transport, Logistics, and Related Equipment, the mass production of the company’s new product, the Rail Expansion Joint system, was unveiled in the presence of Dr. Jabarali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and CEO of the Railways of the I.R. Iran (RAI), and Dr. Foroozesh, CEO of the PSRAI.

According to this report, this system is one of the most significant systems used in railway transportation infrastructure, designed to neutralize the effects of structural movements and thermal expansion and contraction of railway lines.

Tensile and compressive stresses caused by movement or temperature can damage rail welds, cause rail distortion, change track width, and lead to accidents such as train derailments. The presence of this system is essential before bridges, tunnels, sometimes before switches ,due to the improper functioning of the switch machine, and in places where the lines are welded together due to expansion, contraction, and structural movements.

The rail expansion joint system is considered a strategic product in railway transportation, designed and produced for the first time in the country by the engineers and specialists of this knowledge-based company. With its domestic production, the country will no longer need to import it, preventing the outflow of foreign currency.

Due to the lack of domestic production and utilization of this system in the country’s railway lines, and the occurrence of accidents in areas where this product is not used, as well as the planning of the (RAI) to achieve increased line speeds, the need for engineering and production of this system in the country has become more evident than ever.

Some of the advantages of using this system include:

– Solving longitudinal issues caused by expansion (buckling) and contraction (weld cracking) in continuously welded rail lines.

– Preventing derailment and accidents due to track distortion.

– Preventing the malfunction of switch machines due to track expansion and contraction.

– Fixing the problem of structure movement in bridges and tunnels

– Increasing the speed of rail vehicles.

– Reducing the time for cargo and passenger transportation.
