Consolidating Knowledge-Based Excellence in the Rail Sector: Technical Council of the Plan and Budget Organization Conducts On-Site Audit of IRID’s Production Lines and Quality Chain

During a comprehensive technical audit of the Knowledge-Based Iranian Rail Industries Development Company (IRID), the Specialized Working Group on Construction Materials and Equipment of the East Azerbaijan Technical Council reaffirmed the strict compliance of IRID’s railway products with national standards, underscoring the imperative of utilizing indigenous technological capabilities to advance the province’s transport infrastructure.

According to the Public Relations Department of IRID, this on-site technical inspection of IRID’s production lines and Quality Control (QC) facilities was conducted in line with macro policies governing railway infrastructure expansion and with the strategic objective of verifying the compliance of domestically manufactured products with national and international benchmarks.

The inspection—attended by senior delegates from governing bodies and specialized institutions in the civil and transportation sectors—focused on three primary pillars: standard compliance and quality assurance assessments, synergy between executive authorities and knowledge-based capacities, and a strategic outlook on the rail supply chain.

Throughout the field evaluation, the inspection team closely reviewed operational manufacturing processes, emphasizing the continuous enhancement of quality performance indicators across railway products and infrastructure superstructure equipment. During the technical session, critical emphasis was placed on the long-term reliability and quality sustainability of components directly linked to railway operational safety. Furthermore, the testing procedures, calibration standards, and performance metrics of IRID’s Quality Control laboratories were subjected to a rigorous and detailed audit.

Delegates praised IRID’s advanced engineering achievements, officially endorsing the vital necessity of supporting high-tech, domestic manufacturing to minimize reliance on foreign imports across municipal, provincial, and national transport projects.

IRID showcased its innovative capabilities in the localization and engineering of critical, safety-critical railway track components and switch systems, receiving strong backing from the Technical Council for deployment in upcoming regional and transit infrastructure developments.

In their technical presentation, IRID executives highlighted the indispensable role of precision reverse engineering and process innovations in surmounting complex technical bottlenecks and achieving self-reliance.

Welcoming this technological approach, members of the Provincial Technical Council underscored the critical need to fortify institutional links between the rail industry and urban/transportation infrastructure authorities, aiming to elevate safety factors, maximize asset lifecycle, and optimize equipment durability.

This field audit represents a strategic milestone in consolidating the rail equipment supply chain across the northwestern industrial hub of Iran. The resulting synergy between the East Azerbaijan Technical Council and IRID establishes a clear roadmap for executing provincial civil and transportation projects leveraging certified, standardized, and indigenously developed rail solutions.
